Answer:

h = 12 units

Explanation:

Area of a Parallelogram = base × perpendicular height (A = b × h)

In the diagram above we can obtain the following:

  • Area = 72 units²
  • perpendicular height = h
  • base = 6

(Please Note: the base of a parallelogram must be perpendicular to its height; in this case it is the side measuring 6 units that is perpendicular to the height)

Since A = b × h

⇒ A ÷ b = b ÷ b × h (dividing both sides by b)

⇒ h = A ÷ b (making h the subject of the eq'n)

thus h = 72 unit² ÷ 6 units

= 12 units
