a^2 + b^2 = c^2

You are given the two legs (40 and 9) which you will plug into a and b. That means that you have to find c, the hypotheses

40^2 + 9^2 = c^2

1600 + 81 = c^2

1681 = c^2

To get rid of the squared on the c, square root both sides:

41 = c
