Answer:

The world war was fought in order to contain the spread of Communism and what was described as countries falling to the 'Domino Effect'

In order to stop this the United States had to play a global role in countries all over the world.

Step-by-step explanation:

Both the Soviet Union and the United States were fighting the cold war in order to contain the spread the ideas of one another and their influence.

Hence, if the Soviet Union got close to a legitimate government of a country, the United States would start funding rebels.

If the United States had a political influence over one country, the Soviet Union would fund and back rebels in those countries.

This spread around the world resulting in conflicts from as far as Panama to Vietnam and Cambodia.
