A regressive tax is one that is applied to everyone uniformly. We have a tax called the GST (Canada) which charges rich and poor alike 5%. There are very few exceptions to paying this tax, but there are some. Basic groceries is one that comes to mind. Meat, Fish Poultry.

If you buy a Pepsi, you will by the GST whether you drive a Ford or a BMW or no car at all.
