The families were often separated. Not only that, they were taken from homes. So if they rented, they lost their home completely because their landlord rents to someone else. If they owned, they would have to have someone take care of their houses. They also could only take necessities and had to give their pets away or find someone to watch them.
Negative Psychological Effects. Shock, fear, and worry were common initial psychological reactions as Japanese Americans were forced to deal with the stress of enforced dislocation and the abandonment of their homes, possessions, and businesses.
