Answer:

- 4

Explanation:

Using the rule of exponents

a^(m) ×
a^(n)
a^((m+n))

a^(-m)
(1)/(a^(m) )

((1)/(9)) ^(a+1) =
9^(-(a+1)) =
3^(-2(a+1))

and right side

=
3^(4(a+1)) ×
3^(3(2-a))

Hence

3^(-2a-2) =
3^(4a+4) ×
3^(6-3a)

3^(-2a-2) =
3^(a+10)

Equating exponents on both sides gives

a + 10 = - 2a - 2 ( add 2a to both sides )

3a + 10 = - 2 (subtract 10 from both sides )

3a = - 12 ( divide both sides by 3 )

a = - 4
