Area of a triangle =
(1)/(2) area of rectangle

Explanation:

Given:

Height of triangle = n cm, Base of triangle = m

Length of rectangle = n cm, Width of rectangle = m cm

Area of ΔTRI =
(1)/(2) base × height

=
(1)/(2) ( m ) × (n) ⇒
(1)/(2) mn

Area of Rectangle RECT = Length × Width

= m × n ⇒ = mn

Comparing Area of triangle and rectangle.


(1)/(2) mn = mn

We can conclude that area of triangle is half of the area of rectangle.
