Answer:

It is an original book, it tells the story of a boy, a teenager, who performs many tricks with his accomplice Rowley.

From New Year's Eve until the summer, Greg tries to conquer Holly Hills, the most beautiful girl in his class, with whom he is in love, but she ignores him, while his father tries to change his attitude and become a man, decides to sign him up for a football team, but Greg does not want to; later he reflects and decides to sign up as he could surprise Holly to conquer her, but he realizes that playing football is not one of his best virtues as he was always a substitute.

As this didn't work out for him, because his team lost a game because of him, Greg's father decides to take him out. After this, Frank meets a neighborhood troublemaker named Lenwood who apparently has reformed after going to military school. Impressed with the change in his former enemy, he decides to enroll Greg in a summer program at a place called Spag Union Military School, hoping that Greg will change for the better and that this will end the family embarrassment.

This seems like a bad idea to Greg because he would be separated from Holly for the whole vacation, and when he came back he wouldn't have a chance, plus he would have to spend the whole vacation running around and doing push-ups and sit-ups.

To impress his father and avoid military school, Greg decides to join the 133 Boy Scouts. However, he is sick and misses his camping trip, which Frank has to go on anyway and has a very hard time. Later, when Greg and Frank have a "break" from camping, they end up in a hotel after a heavy rain, where Greg stays outside his room in his underwear.

After this, Greg becomes more resigned to his fate in military school, especially after his attempts to make a good impression in Holly Hills in his class. But on what he thinks is his only day of summer vacation, Greg inadvertently ends up saving Frank from making a fool of himself at a neighbor's birthday party.

The next day, his father reconsiders his decision to send Greg to Spag Union, and the book ends with Greg meeting a girl named "Trista.
