I will focus on #8 and also show you how to check the outcome:

7(2x - 3) = 20x

Performing the indicated multiplication: 14x - 21 = 20x

Combining like terms: -21 = 6x, or (after reducing) x = -7/2

Check this result by substituting -7/2 for x in 7(2x - 3) = 20x:

7(2*[-7/2] - 3 = 20[ -7/2 ] Is this statement true?

7(-7 - 3) = -70 True?

7(-10) = -70 True? Yes

Therefore x = -7/2 is the solution to #8.
