Answer:q=-6

Explanation:

If the solution of the system is {(x,y) : x-3y=4}, then both equation should have proportional coefficients:

1/2=-3/q=4/8

Solve it:

1/2 = -3/q

q=-3*2

q=-6

Check whether q=-6 is correct answer, substituting this value into the first ratio:

1/2=-3/-6=4/8

q=-6

hope this helps,

Answer:

  • Q = 2

Explanation:

If the solution to the system is the first equation only, then both equations should be same:

  • x - 3y = 4
  • Qx - 6y = 8

Double the first equation, then both of coefficients of y and constant will be equal:

  • 2x - 6y = 8
  • Qx - 6y = 8

Comparing we get Q = 2
