Hey there!

There were quite a few cause for the direct involvement of the USA in World War 1, but the reason that kind of made them "jump" into it, was the murder of Duke Franz Ferdinand, the Austrian archduke, and his wife who was pregnant with his heir. They we're shot while riding in a car, down a populated street. Many Americans found this vile and wicked and it pushed us into the war.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

World War I began in 1914, after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and lasted until 1918. During the conflict, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire (the Central Powers) fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States (the Allied Powers).
