Answer:

You first multiply the 2 with the numbers inside the parinthesis. So it'll be 2 x 2w and 2 x -9 which will get you to 4w-18. After that you add 18 to each side of the equation so the -18 can dissapear. After getting your answer you get left with 4w on the left side and -20 on the right. You then divide both sides with 4

Explanation:

2(2w-9)=-38

4w-18= -38

+18 +18

4w = -20

4w/4= w

-20/4= -5

So in the end W= -5
