COPPER
Why is copper not usually used in over head electric cable?
It is because
copper has a high current density
, which means it can carry more current per unit of cross-sectional area.
Copper conductors have a smaller cross-sectional area as a result
. Copper, on the other hand,
is rarely used for overhead power lines due to its higher cost and scarcity
.
