What is the equation of the line that is perpendicular to y= 1/5 x + 4 and that passes through (5, -4 )

y = -5x + 21

Explanation:

The perpendicular slope is opposite of the inverse. The inverse of 1/5 is 5/1, and the opposite of that is -5/1.

So m = -5.

Then use point-slope form:
