Both the lungs and the kidneys remove carbon dioxide waste from the blood. Kidneys filter out some carbonic acid and the lungs exchange carbon dioxide gas with the atmosphere. Do we need both these organs?

Answer:

Yes we do need both of the organs because, what if one of the organs one day have a failure issue you can depend on the other. But just imagine if you only had one organ you wouldn't be able to remove carbon dioxide waste from your body.
