The products of the measures of one secant's external part and the entire secant is equal to the product of the measures of the other secant's external part and that entire secant, that is

3(3 + x) = 4(4 + 7)

9 + 3x = 4 × 11 = 44 (subtract 9 from both sides )

3x = 35 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x ≈ 11.7
