For this case we must find the value of the variable "x" of the following equation:

y = 10^(x)

We rewrite the equation as:

10 ^ {x} = y

We take the logarithmic base 10 from both sides of the equation to remove the variable from the exponent.

log (10 ^ {x}) = log (y)\\x (log (10)) = log (y)

The logarithmic base 10 of 10 is 1.

x * 1 = log (y)\\x = log (y)

ANswer:

x = log (y)
