f(x) = (2)/(x+3) +1\\

and


g(x) = -|x+3|

The two would be equal if


(2)/(x+3) +1=x+3 or -x-3\\(2)/(x+3) =x+2 /-x-4\\2=x^2+5x+6/-(x^2+7x+12)\\x^2+5x+6=0 / x^2+7x+14=0

x=-4 or -1

Of these x=-4 is consistent as when x=-4, x<-3 hence

|x+3|= 1

So answer is -4
