The World War I was a direct consequence of the German aspirations of building a global empire. Germany was very jealous to the British and the French because they had lot of colonies around the world and were making a lot of wealth because of it. The Germans actually wanted the British and the French to give them some of their own colonies, and in order for conflict to be avoided the Germans were actually granted several colonies in Africa. The Germans were not satisfied with that and wanted much more, so once there was a spark, the war started and became one of the worst things that had happened to the humanity.
