The partition of India did not went very well. The historically one territory was divided into two countries. The main reason behind this was that part of the territory was dominated by Hindus, while other part was dominated by Muslims. Also, the Muslim movements were pushing for a separate country, and that was largely supported by the international community. This led to the formation of India and Pakistan, and later of Bangladesh as well, a formation based on religion. The end result was lot of tension, conflicts, and bloodshed between the different religious groups and those feelings and activities are present even nowadaysand are a very big threat to the world peace.
