Find f(-2) given f(x) = -3x - 5

Graph by hand: y = -1/2x + 4

For babysitting, Nicole charges a flat fee of $3, plus $5 per hour. Write an equation for the cost, C, after h hours of babysitting. What do you think the slope and the y-intercept represent? How much money will she make if she baby-sits 5 hours?

Answer:

Explanation:

f(-2) given f(x) -3x -5

f(-2) = 1

graph by hand y= -1/2 x+ 4

y int = ( 0,4)

x int ( can be found if y = o)

0 = -1/2 x +4

solve for x

x = 8 in coordinates ( 8,0)

join the x and y intercepts

q1: -3(-2)-5 = 6-5 = 1

q2: u gotta start w the y intercept which is 4 so look at where x is 0 and y is 4 plot that point, then the slope is -1/2 so go down one point and left 2 points then plot the next point and continue from there

q3: C=5h+3; the y interecept represents the initial fee which is 3 while the slope represents her hourly pay which is 5. if she babysits for 5 hrs it’ll be $28 bc u plug in 5 hrs for h so 5(5)+3 = 25+3 = 28
