x = 19/2

Explanation:

2(x - 7) = 5

Let's divide both sides by 2 so as to isolate (x - 7):

x - 7 = 5/2

Add 7 to both sides to isolate x:

x = 7 + 5/2, or n = 14/2 + 5/2 = 19/2 = x
