Answer:

this function does not look right . . .as the parenthesis are being multiplied twice . . .but as it is written it would be 623

Explanation:

-f(x) = 4(9x+3)2 +1 find f(-9)

multiple (9x + 3) by 8 (which is the 4 and the 2 multiplied together)

8(9x + 3) + 1

72x + 24 +1 (distributing the 8)

72x +25 (adding like terms)

substitute -9 in for x

72(-9) +25 72(-9) = -648 +25

combine like terms -f(-9) = -623

but since it is a negative function you would divide both sides

solution: f (-9) = 623
