Plato's conception of the soul as not just invisible, rarified matter, but actually as immaterial. how is this different from earlier conceptions of the soul? why does plato make this change?

Plato's conception was different because the ancient Egyptians believed that a soul was made up of many parts. In addition to these components of the soul, there was the human body. Plato's theory said that a soul is immaterial, or not of physical physiology.
