2. Equation for line shown:
Y = 2x - 2

For a line to be perpendicular to another line the 2 gradients multiplied have to equal -1. Therefore the gradient of the new line is -1/2.

Y = -1/2x + c

Now sub in -4 for x and 5 for y.

5 = (-1/2 x -4) + c
5 = 2 + c
c = 3

So the equation of the line:
Y = -1/2x + 3
