Hiroshi spends 30 minutes on history homework, 60 minutes on English homework, and x minutes on math homework. One fourth of his total homework time is spent on math. Which equation can be used to find the amount of time Hiroshi spends on his math homework? (x + 30 + 60) = x (x) = x(30 + 60) x(30 + 60) = x (x) = (30 + 60)

Answer:

x(x)=1/4(30+60+x)

Explanation:

minutes spent on math homework= x

minutes spent on history homework= 30 min

minutes spent on English homework= 60 min

Total minutes spent on homework = x+30 +60

Also

x= 1/4(x+30 +60)

x= x/4 + 90/4

x-x/4= 90/4

(4x-x)/4=90/4

3x=90

x=30

Hence time spent on maths=30 min

total time spent= 30+60+30

= 120 min

1/4 of 120 min= 30 mins!
