Answer:

d > -9

Explanation:

-1/4d - 1/4 < 2

-1/4d < 2 1/4

d > -9

Draw an open circle around -9 and make the arrow point to the right.

  • -1/4 (d + 1) < 2

Multiply -1/4 with (d + 1)

  • or, -d/4 - 1/4 < 2
  • or, (-d - 1)/4 < 2

Now, multiply 4 at both sides

  • or, (-d - 1)/4 × 4 < 2 × 4

Now, 4 and 4 gets cancelled out in LHS and in the RHS, we get 8

  • or, - d - 1 < 8

Now, take out the minus sign and flip the arrow symbol transpose -1 to the other side

  • or, d + 1 > -8

Now, take 1 on the other side with a change in symbol.

  • or, d < -8 -1
  • or, d > -9

So, the solution is -9.

Now for the graph, we have to draw a circle around -9 and draw an arrow facing the right. This is because d is greater than -9.
