First, find slope (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

(1-3)/(-5-(-2)

Second, find the change in x and multiply it by the slope.

-2-(-5)= 3 unit change in x

3*(2/3)= 6

Now we have the length of our first segment-- we must multiply by two (hence midpoint) to get our final answer for the whole segment length

6*2=12
