The Arab-Israeli conflict is a complex issue today, because of their "claims" in the land. We must note that the Isreali has a older and more historical claim against that of the Arabs.
For background information, we must note that during the book of Joshua, the Israelites entered the "promised land" (Present-day Israel & Palestine), and conquered the natives in the area. They soon set up the kingdom of Israel, which later split into the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah. Over the centuries, the two kingdoms had civil wars, and ended with both losing to outer empires, Israel to Assyria, and Judah to Babylon. Israel soon became known as the "lost tribes", for they never had a concentrated return to the promise land. On the other hand, Judah was able to have a concentrated return following the defeat of Babylon to Cyrus of Persia, which allowed the tribe of Judah to return to their homeland and rebuild. Centuries later, under the rule of the Romans, the Great Diaspora occurred, which scattered the Jewish population throughout the lands following large amounts of persecution. This continued until after World War II, in which, on the Allies figuring out that the Jews & minorities were being mistreated by the Nazi's and killed in concentration camps that they were allowed back to their homeland. However, the land was already inhabited by Arabs which moved in during the Roman conquest, and they fought over who has the most right to the "holy land", leading to the disagreement of today.
