Based onto the knowledge I've gathered of learning about Northern and Southern slaves:

Northern Slaves

  • During and immediately following the Revolutionary War, abolitionist laws were passed in most Northern states and a movement developed to abolish slavery.

  • Northern states depended on free labor and all had abolished slavery by 1805. Northern slaves are much more privileged and treated a little bit more of a citizen working than a slave.

Southern Slaves

  • Unfortunately for the Southern slaves. Life's a challenge for them therefore its hard for them because they live in constant and continuous fear.

  • During work and outside of it, slaves suffered physical abuse, since the government allowed it. Treatment was usually harsher on large plantations, which were often managed by overseers and owned by absentee slaveholders. Small slaveholders worked together with their slaves and sometimes treated them more humanely.

Hope this helps you!

Have a great day!
