Answer:

(I'll assume you mean fictional story)

Anna looked back over her shoulder. Sure enough, Peter was following her home from school. He'd had a crush on her forever, and no matter how many times she told him she wasn't interested, he kept trying. She could see him jogging, his heavy backpack swinging against his body with each step he took. Anna felt bad, since he was sweating buckets. So she waited a moment to let him catch up.

"Peter", she said.

"Anna", he panted, "Thank you for waiting up. I wanted to ask you if you would be my partner for the science project".

Anna thought for a moment, but couldn't think of an excuse, so she was forced to agree. Although as soon as Peter was done thanking her, and assuring her she wouldn't regret being his partner, she pretended to get a call and made up that she had to hurry home.

After a couple weeks, Anna had to face the reality that she would actually have to spend time with Peter to finish the project. Their lunch and study hall times didn't match up, so working on the project at school wasn't a possibility.

Anna texted Peter after school, asking if he was free to work on the project. Of course he replied instantly, and said yes with an exclamation mark. "Subtle", Anna thought.

Peter tried to convince her to work at his house, but Anna was not about to let that happen. As soon as one of them went to the other's house, that would be a new level of personal that Anna just didn't want to get to.

Finally, Peter suggested the town recreation center, and Anna had no choice but to agree. The town rec center was creepy though. It was always open, but no one was ever there.

The two met just as it was getting dark, and proceeded to find a table to sit down at and get their work done. It only took two hours for them to finish the project. Anna was surprisingly happy that it didn't feel completely like torture.

When Peter and Anna finally went to leave, they paused, and heard voices that faintly sounded like an argument. It sounded as though the voices were coming from upstairs.

But the rec building only had one floor.

Anna felt shivers shudder through her body, and in her fear she grabbed onto Peter's arm. She felt goosebumps on his arm too.

The two raced outside, and finally in the fresh air they paused to take a deep breath.

Peter looked back at the building first. Anna saw the look on his face and glanced back as well. To their horror, they saw two shadows on the roof. From the silhouettes, it looked like a man and a woman. They were in fact arguing. Although it was still a terrifying situation, Anna managed a half grin at Peter, and said, "At least they're real people. I thought that place was haunted for a minute there".

As soon as Anna said that, the woman up on the roof clearly heard her, and turned to see who was talking. That's all the man needed. He shoved her from behind. Hard.

Anna and Peter watched as she fell to the ground in what seemed like slow-motion. Anna braced herself for what she was about to see, as the woman's body neared the ground, arms flailing. When she hit the ground, both Anna and Peter closed their eyes for a moment, not wanting to see the impact. When they opened them, milliseconds later, the woman was gone. Vanished. They heard a deep voice laughing, and the man on the roof pointed at them and continued to laugh. Peter and Anna dropped their backpacks, grabbed each others' hands, sprinted home as fast as they could, and neither of them ever went there again.
