Use the distributive property to remove the parentheses.

Answer:

This is what you would do!

One, you start off by multiplying 5 into the parentheses (9 and v)

Next, it will look like this,

5(9)-5(v)

Then multiply your equation

5x9=45

5xv=5v

And this is what it would look like

45-5v

(Sometimes this would just stay like this, put if your teacher wants the unknown number to be by itself, this is what you would do next)

Divide 5 to both problems

45/5 5v/5

9=v

(That last part is if you need it but hopes it helps :))
