sodium (Na) is a metal with one valence electron which it readily loses to become a positively charged ion (Na+). Fluorine (F), on the other hand, is a non-metal with seven valence electrons and gains an electron to become a negatively charged ion (F-). sodium is found in group one element, but flourine members of halogens . oxygen found in group six element ,but hydrogen found in group 1( according to periodic table)
