Answer:

9 1/8

Step-by-step explanation:

1. first take away the fraction part and take the whole numbers off of the numbers and add them!

1 + 3 + 5 = 9

2. now take that aside and keep that for later... now lets focus on the

1/2, 3/4, and the 1/8 these are the STARS you will be focusing on!

3. now, find the common denominator in these fractions!!!

how? here is how!

1. lets list these fractions:

1/2, 3/4, and 1/8

the common demoninator is 8 because 1. its one of the highest in this set and 2. if you multiply 1/2 and 3/4 n the numerator and the demoentator by 4 they can create a 8 denminator and then you can add them!

4. Next, I wont be explaning you just watch!

3 x2 6

_ = _

4 x2 8 (to get to 8 from 4 you multiply by 2! so you do the same for the upper one!!!)

1 x4 4

_ = _

2 x4 8

you dont do anything to 1/8 because its already part of the eights family! :D

5. I know, it took us a LONG way here but here it is! the final! now, time to add them!

4/8, 6/8 and 1/8

6. lastly...

1 1/8 + 9 = 9 1/8

Hope this helpes! sorry this was so long!!! :D
