Answer:

A.) 7:3

B.) Approximately 96,772 people

Explanation:

The newspaper company sampled 80 of their subscribers.

56 of the 80 would be interested in the new services.

So, 80 - 56 = 24 people would not be interested in the new service.

The ratio of those interested in the new service to those who are not interested is:

56 : 24 simplified becomes 7 : 3 (We divide 56 and 24 by a common divisor = 8)

If the total number of subscribers for the newspaper is 138,346

The number of subscribers who would be interested in the new service would be:

(7)/(10) × 138,246 = 96,772.2 people

Because there are no 0.2 people, we remove the decimal point of the answer and hence;

Approximately 96,772 people would be interested in the new service.
