Explanation:

There are two parts to a cylinder:

The 2 bases

Lateral Area.

Since the lateral area is around the 2 bases, the length of it is 2
/pir because that’s the circumference of the base. Since the height of the lateral area is the height of the cylinder, the lateral area is 2
/pirh.

Since the area of a circle is
/pir^2, we multiply it by 2 since there are 2 bases and get 2
/pir^2+2
/pir.
