Natalie went to the store to buy some cherries. The price per pound of the cherries is $6.25 per pound and she has a coupon for $2.75 off the final amount. With the coupon, how much would Natalie have to pay to buy 5 pounds of cherries? Also, write an expression for the cost to buy pp pounds of cherries, assuming at least one pound is purchased.

Answer: 6.25(5) - 2.75 = X

Explanation:

Each pond costs 6.25 and she buys 5 pounds so multiply 5.25 and 5. Then subtract 2.75 which is the coupon to get your answer.

The expression is 6.25x - 2.75 = P

P being the total cost
