Three times a number x can be written as

3x

The quotien between this and 2 is

(3x)/(2)

from this, we will subtract something:

(3x)/(2)-\ldots

And this "something" is three times the square of x. The square of x is
x^2, and three times this is
3x^2

So, our final expression is

(3x)/(2)-3x^2
