-6x + 8y = -6

7x -10y = 9

Let's eliminate the Y values by multiplying each equation by a number to make the coefficients of Y opposite.

-6x + 8y = -6 x 5 = -30x +40y = -30

7x -40y = 9 x 4 = 28x - 40y =36

Now add the two equations together:

-30x + 28x = -2x

40y +-40y = 0

-30 + 36 = 6

Now you have:

-2x = 6

Divide both sides by -2:

x = 6 / -2

x = -3

The answer is -3
