No. Photosynthesis is when a plant converts sunlight into food or glucose. Only producers are able to do this. Consumers have to consume food to have the energy to survive.

Hope this helped! Let me know if there is anything I need to clarify or explain more in depth

Answer:

No, consumers are not able to do photosynthesis.

Step-by-step explanation:

Plants are called producers because they produce their own food. They get light and energy from the sun, carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil to produce their own food and this process of making food is called photosynthesis.

There are four types of consumers in ecology are :

  • herbivores,
  • carnivores,
  • omnivores, and
  • decomposers

The above mentioned categories includes Caterpillars, insects, grasshoppers, termites and hummingbirds are primary consumers because they only eat producers (plants) and they can not make their own food themselves.
