Break up this figure into a half circle and a trapezoid.

The radius of the half circle is half the diameter, or half of 14 cm, or 7 cm.

The area of this half circle is then A = (1/2)πr², which here is:

A = (1/2)π(7 cm)² = 76.97 cm².

The trapezoid has a width of 14 cm and two legs of length 24 and 18 cm respectively.

The area of this trapez. is (average of the leg lengths)(width), or

A = (24 + 18) /2 times 14 (all in cm), or:

A = (21 cm)(14 cm) = 294 cm²

and so the area of the entire figure is the sum of the two areas found above:

294 cm² + 76.97 cm² = 370.97 cm²
