= 2(6*4 + 6*10 + 4*10)

= 2(24 + 60 + 40) = 248 square feet

You then have to calculate the area of each of the 6 faces and sum them up to get the total.

2 - 10 x 6 for the front and back

2 - 10 x 4 for the lateral sides

2 - 4 x 6 for the top and bottom.

So, you just have to find the area of each side... which is easy... you know how to calculate the area of a rectangle: base * height. So,

10x6 sides have an area of 60

10 x 4 sides have an area of 40

4 x 6 sides have an area of 24

Total = 2 (60) + 2 (40) + 2 (24) = 120 + 80 + 48 = 248 sq feet of area for its surfaces.
