Answer:

\large\boxed{x=(165)/(14)}

Explanation:

(x)/(3)=5(x-11)\qquad\text{multiply both sides by 3}\\\\3\!\!\!\!\diagup^1\cdot(x)/(3\!\!\!\!\diagup_1)=3\cdot5(x-11)\\\\x=15(x-11)\qquad\text{use the distributive property}\ a(b+c)=ab+ac\\\\x=15x-(15)(11)\qquad\text{subtract 15x from both sides}\\\\-14x=-165\qquad\text{divide both sides by (-14)}\\\\x=(165)/(14)

x/3=5(x-11)

first distribute the 5 x/3=5x-55

then multiply both sides by 3 x=15x-165

then subtract 15x from both sides -14x=-165

now divide both sides by -14 x=165/14

answer x=165/14
