You would divide 20 by 8.

20/8=2.5

That would give a decimal. They can cut it in half.

If you wanted it without decimals it would be 2 so each kid would get 2 lollies. So 16 out of the 20 lollies have been spent. 20-16=4, so, 4 lollies are left.

a. Each kid would get 2 lollies.

b. Yes, there will be 4 lollies left if each kid gets 2.

Answer:

a. Each child will get 2 lollies.

b. Yes, 4 lollies will be left.

Explanation:

Given

Total lollies = 20

Children = 8

In order to calculate the number of lollies each child will get the number of lollies has to be divided by the number of children. The quotient will be the number of lollies each child will get and remainder will be the lollies that will be left over.

So dividing 20 by 8 gives us 2 as quotient and remainder is 4 lollies will be left over..
