Well we know that area is length x width, so let's start with this equation.

A = l x w

Now we plug in what we know to figure out the width. We know that the area is 160 square feet, and the length is 16 feet.

160 = 16 x w

Now we use some basic algebra to isolate the w and find our answer.

160/16 = 16 x w/16

10 = w

Now we know the length is 16 ft and the width is 10 ft. We can find the perimeter by using the formula for perimeter.

P = 2l + 2w

Now let's plug it all in to find P (perimeter).

P = 2(16) + 2(10)

P = 32 + 20

P = 52

So our answer is the width of Malcolm's room is 10ft, and the perimeter of his room is 52ft.

Hope this helps and good luck!
