A box contains 8 dimes, 15 quarters, and 27 nickels. A student randomly draws two items, one at a time without replacement, from the bag. Find the probability that 2 quarters are drawn.

First, we have to find the ratio of quarters to the ratio of total coins:

15/15+8+27 = 15/50

Then, multiply the ratios:

15/50 * 14/49

(14/49 since one quarter has already been removed)

210/2450

21/245 = 0.0857

The probability is about 9 percent.
