Answer:

I shivered like the motor of a breaking-down car.

It is as cold as the temperature on Neptune.

The cold made me freeze instantly like a jelly being frozen by liquid nitrogen.

Bonus (not a simile):

It smacked me from every direction and it felt like sharp swords being thrown at me.
