Why is the klu klux klan important to American history

So, if you don't know already in early America, many African American men, women and children were enslaved.

Skip ahead, after slavery ended, some white people were upset, so they created the Klu Klux Clan, to continue the line of racism. They tortured and terrorized many Black people, often killing them.

There is even a town named after the Klan > Clanton, Al
