The idea for it was there at that time, but the establishment of the group as a political partty happened in 1906. Muhammad Ali Jinnah served as leader of the All-India Muslim League since 1913. As the decades went on, the group pressed for a separate nation for Muslims. Jinnah then served as the first Governor-General of Pakistan, holding that office from the independence of Pakistan in August 1947 until his death in September 1948.
