y = mx + b

y = population after x years

m = rate of change

x = years

b = initial population

First, we have to figure out how much the population grows per year. To do this, we have to find 2% of 9800.

2% = 0.02

(0.02)(9800) = 196

The population grows 196 people per year.

y = 196x + 9800

y = 196(7) + 9800

y = 1372 + 9800

y = 11172

The population after 7 years will be around 11, 172 people.

Hope this helps!
